Right Thinking

Last week I was in charge of bringing lunch for Josiah's class. I was given the olive, tomato, cucumber, cheese, and fruit lunch. As I looked at the list and even as I was preparing the food I thought to myself "Why is bread not on the list?" It is said here that a meal is not a meal without bread. Well, half way through the food service Josiah's sweet teacher says "Is there bread?". It wasn't on the list I said but I would run and pick some up. "Do you have your own money?" she asks. "Yes I have my own money. I will be right back." Thankfully bread is never far away and I was back in a few minutes. I was mad at myself for not following my gut. Okay it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that they eat bread with every meal, but I was glad that I thought, as they would, that something was missing. Now if I could only add spices to a meal without my measuring spoons!

Picnic Season

We have officially entered picnic season here. A few weekends ago our neighbors informed us that we were going on a picnic - asap. We packed up and went to a park that was full of fellow "picnicers". It really does seem like EVERY family picnics on Sunday if the weather is nice.

Cookie Bribes Work

As I looked through possible pictures to hang in our new home I realized that I needed to get some updated pictures of the older boys. Believe it or not I have not been as good at taking pictures as I used to be - though I probably still take more than normal! I have only scrapbooked 3 times in the year and a half since I've lived here. Hard to believe considering my previous life. Maybe I will scrapbook these pages of the boys after I ask for a day off for Mother's Day! I bribed them with chocolate chip cookies to ensure that there were smiles involved and that they let me take more than three.

Easter Sunday

It's hard to get a good picture of four boys!

The Congregation

In all honest this Easter was a little 'weird' for us. We did not have a church to go to or other believers to celebrate with. We celebrated as a family, singing together, reading the resurrection story, and listening to a sermon. Though it may not have felt normal or familiar I am grateful that no matter where we are the reason we celebrate is always the same.

Determination

Last Saturday Caleb taught himself how to ride his bike. Although he is almost 8 we have never lived in a place with a safe place for him to learn and ride. Moving to our new home provided him with that opportunity. There is a shared space between the complexes that gave him the space he needed. It also provided him with some motivation - a girl riding without training wheels. I don't think that he could stand seeing someone about his age doing something he couldn't. He seriously spent all day Saturday outside and at the day he was proud of what he had accomplished.

Micah's First Birthday

On Friday we celebrated Micah's first birthday. We have been so blessed by this little boy. He is a sweet baby with a great personality. He loves to play with legos (they make a loud noise if you bang them together), cars, lollypop wrappers, Daddy's cell phone and a nerf football. He is a picky eater - never likes jarred baby food and will eat just about anything if it is mixed with a banana. When he is tired he likes to lay his head on my shoulder and hold my hair. Of all the boys he has been the earliest to get teeth, crawl, and walk. So far he is still has blue eyes, which would make him the only one in our family. He's a keeper!

March Madness

Though we have moved across the world we have not escaped March Madness. Ted came home a few days before the tournament started, saying the he intended to 'bring the boys up right'. In his hand was a bracket for each of the boys (only Caleb and Josiah filled them out). The boys were excited and went to dig through their summer clothes - finding their 'basketball clothes'. They have been using our living room as a court, shooting three pointers, and even taking naps so that they can stay up late to watch the games - that is mad!
